Our family visited Bare Necessities for the second time to celebrate the 4th of July holiday. This is an exceptionally equipped home. There are so many amenities to the home, you could never leave and have plenty to do. The master has a very comfortable bed, heated toliet, and large master bath on the main level. Our son and wife took the upstairs where there are two bedrooms, one with a king and one with king and large bathroom. My husband appreciated the gourmet kitchen with every possible high-end pot and pan and appliance. For me, the screened in patio with a fire pit and sectional looking out on the trees was my favorite spot to spend hours of my vacation unwinding. We will return to this paradise of peace in the mountains.

My girlfriends and I had a wonderful stay at Bear Necessities cabin. Being from the Virginia Beach area, it was a great respite from the August heat. The cabin provided everything we needed and more. The only hiccup was the ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms upstairs had an issue that kept flipping the breaker. This room also had the wifi router and made it difficult to get in touch with the office but once we were able to let them know the maintenance crew came and fixed the problem enough to get the lights and wifi back on the next morning. The office staff were very nice and check in and check out was easy.

Everything went as instructed for check in after hours and package had additional details for our stay. Directions were given to the rental and we only had one wrong turn off, which was the road signage confusion. Once we made it to the cabin, we had no other issues driving up or down. Fair warning going down, you’ll need to down shift your transmission to save your brake wear. It’s a really beautiful view going up and if you’re looking for being on top of a mountain this is the place. We only had one issue and that is the gas grill was empty. Once I made a call down to the office Gloria took care of having it delivered promptly. It’s a very we’ll furnished and beautiful home inside with great decor. It’s ideal for more than one family having privacy on each floor. Highly recommend and we’ll return again. Saw a lot of wildlife going and coming on the mountain. Close to any attractions you may want to visit. We went to Cherokee, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Also Fly Fished the Smokey Mountain National Park Streams. We saw Herds of Elk and one very big Black Bear over 350 pounds. Wonderful trip and very peaceful.

Great, clean cabin high in the mountain tops! There is a LONG hike up the mountain before you get to the property (even though it’s only roughly 2 miles). I recommend the first time going up to be in the daylight because it can be very confusing. Also, type in the address into your gps (we used phones) at the bottom of the mountain because you may lose service halfway up. Thank goodness for WiFi and iMessages, because service was hit or miss. Otherwise the property itself was very accommodating for 10 people (baby included). We would love to go back one day!!!

Our stay at Bear Necessities was fantastic. It had all the modern amenities in a secluded mountain cabin. On a few of the days , the weather was cool and rainy, but the screened porch with a gas fire pit allowed for a great spot to watch the storm over the mountains. The kitchen was modern with great appliances and we enjoyed playing pool and throwing darts. We were a little disappointed that the ping pong table was broken. The cabin is close to both Maggie Valley and Waynesville as well as some great hiking trails. We would absolutely stay here again!!

As we began our ascent, we could already feel this was going to be something special. Along this winding road we decided to roll down the window to get some of the freshest air we have had in a long time. Then we heard the sound of the stream with numerous little waterfalls, lending even more to this already great start. Once we arrived to this awesome house, it was like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Everything was perfect and my daughter and I made some lifelong memories.

We had a great time in Maggie Valley. Bear Necessities is all you could ask for in a mountain retreat. The cabin is well equipped with everything you nee. The view is amazing. We loved the outside fire place. The road up is a little tricky. Lots of hair pin turns and steep in places. But after a couple time up and down we had no problems. Fantastic place to stay. We will be back!

Bear Necessities is a great cabin up in the mountains. We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed time with family. The cabin was beautiful and nicely decorated, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We didn’t have any propane but we called the after-hours number and we had propane within two hours. This is a beautiful cabin with everything that you will need for a great vacation. The property is well taken care of and was very clean when we arrived. It has a nice view off the balcony and we enjoyed the cozy screened in porch with the fire table. We didn’t do much cooking but it has the best stocked kitchen we have seen in our many visits. This home had all the extras and was very comfortable for 6 adults, one child. Everything was high quality, from the appliances to the linens. The view was gorgeous. We are from the coast, so the roads were something to get used to. Easy ride to Cherokee, Asheville, and hiking/waterfalls. Enjoyed our vacation!

We stayed at Bear Necessaties for a family vacation (6 adults and 3 children). The house was absolutely perfect. Plenty of room. High-end appliances, comfortable beds and great showers. The views were gorgeous and we loved the screened in porch and fire pit. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils and anything else you would need. The bottom floor was perfect for the kids--pool table, plenty of room and a bedroom with 2 twin beds. My only complaint is the lack of insulation between the bedrooms upstairs. My parents noted they could hear us above them too. But that was minor compared to all the positives of the cabin.
The cabin is about 10-15 drive up from the rental office and about 10-20 minutes from any type of grocery store. So there is no quick run to the store. There is a park on the premise and my children and niece loved it. Great place for a family vacation. If we head this way again, we'd stay here.

The rental was the great. We have rented a lot of cabins but this was the nicest we have ever stayed in. The cabin was nicely furnished. Everything in this cabin was high quality. The kitchen was furnished with everything we needed to prepare meals. Everyone had plenty of room and lots to do in this cabin. My husband, son and son n law had some late night pool tournaments. The men claimed the down stairs area and called it the man cave. I would highly recommend this cabin. Also there are many things to do within an hours drive from this cabin. We did the Biltmore Estate, Smokey Mountain National Park, Bryson City, Cataloochee, Grand Father Mountain, Linville Cavers, etc.

We were in Maggie Valley for a family reunion and we couldn't have found a better house! 4 couples and all loved it! Just beautiful! It was great to be able to sit on the screened in porch and enjoy a fire in July! Quite a treat for people from Texas and Mississippi! Coffee in the morning on the porch with the beautiful view was so nice! The house was clean, furnished beautifully, and had everything we needed and more! The only thing we had an issue with was maneuvering the windy mountain roads to the house after dark. Quite challenging! Thankfully we only had to deal with that 2 of the 5 nights we were there. We highly recommend Bear Necessities!

This home was perfect! Nestled away atop a beautiful mountain with great views and freshly paved road that led to it. The home was well set up and prepared for any weather we encountered with pool, cards, ping pong, etc. The cookware and furnishings made us feel like our money was well spent. The owners did a great job on the home outdoor space that is both screened in and open. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again in the future.

Wow!!! This house has everything you need. We have stayed in a lot of houses in Maggie for about 25 years and this by far is the best! I brought a griddle with me to make pancakes. They have one! Crock Pot, they have one! Even a Kitchen Aide mixer! Plenty of room for people to eat dinner, sit in the living room and lots or room in the game room down stairs. Just be aware there might not be cell signal. We have AT&T and could only text. But if you have WiFi calling on your phone that worked. There is a house phone too. Overall this house is the best. We would love to stay here again.

This is a well appointed house in a great location to get away. Beautiful view of the mountains from the back porch. Loved listening to the wild turkeys talking to each other and the babbling creek. We really enjoyed the screened-in porch with fire pit. There's plenty of room for a large group and the kitchen has everything you would need and then some.The road to the cabin is well maintained, but steep and curvy in some spots. I wouldn't want to drive it in the winter. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes to get to the cabin from the main road.

This cabin was more than what we had expected. It had everything any guy could want. Man cave, pool table, ping pong table, and so much space. It truly was a retreat that was much needed. I would get this cabin again.
