The house was very comfortable and the upgrades in the last year were much appreciated. The view is just beautiful, sitting on the large deck with the rockers is such a joy. The cabin location is perfect, easy access to Maggie Valley and Waynesville. Easy access to hiking trails also.

Jessica is magnificent in manner, responsiveness, facilitation, et al. I had several needs during our time renting Sleepy Bear and Chipmunk Chase, and she saw to the resolution of all of it. My interaction with Gloria was more limited, but she was also personable and professional. Very good personnel experience altogether (including Mike, who tending to a problem at Chipmunk Chase for us. Houses were spectacular, comfortable, thoughtfully appointed. Good experience all around.

Fabulous weekend
Stayed 3 days ending September 2021
Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
This property is a wonderful place to stay. If you have pets, it is great! The decks and yard are all fenced and the yard is big. Your furry children will be very happy here. The house is absolutely lovely. It has a rustic mountain vibe with enough room for the whole family. The hot tub is a nice touch. Everything was very clean. There is room to park 3 average size cars. We had a 3500 Silverado and a Tahoe and no issues parking but took a bit turning around to get out of the driveway, and the driveway itself is a bit narrow for full size trucks. Mountain views from the deck were beautiful. The proximity to the venue Reflections at The Pond makes this a great place to stay if you are attending an event there. We would definitely rent this house again.

This is our third time rental of this property. As always we had a great time. You just can't beat waking up in the morning and looking down on the cloud-covered valley. The only problem we had was that there was a part on the dishwasher that was broken off, so it was unusable, No big deal.

Sharp House, Dull Knives
Stayed 4 days ending September 2018
Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
This was my fifth rental from Smoky Mountain Retreat. As always management was great. Sleepy Bear Lodge was a great stay. Nicely furnished and clean. The kitchen had everything needed except every knife was extremely dull. Had a hard time slicing mushrooms. The frig in the kitchen started acting up but one call to management took care of things. Only other problem was getting the TV, downstairs in the game room, to work. Even when maintenance was called, they could figure it out. Overall, a great time. Be back next year but will bring a knife sharpener.

Very good +
There were beer cans left on the deck but it was stormy so housekeeping likely didn't look thereo problem. The grill however was a disaster..gross/unusable...BUT I left a msg. the first night and the next day they sent someone to look, then replaced it with a new grill so the steak-out went as planned!!..many thanks for that.
- james p h. from Jasper, GA

Great Cabin that is Cozy and lots of space
Stayed 3 days ending March 2018
Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
The cabin had beautiful views and was quite spacious. The layout of the rooms and space is somewhat odd, but overall the accommodations were as described. The pictures of the bunk bed room make the beds appear larger, but the beds are actually twins. Extra Cots and linens provided to make everyone as comfortable as possible. Missing some darts and tips to the pool sticks, but the rental company and owner quickly fixed that. Great company to work with, very friendly!

The cabin was absolutely beautiful. There was 12 of us total from ages 2 months to 80 years old and it was equipped with everything we needed to keep us all comfortable. The view was absolutely amazing! It was spacious and the decor gave the cabin a warm vacation feel. We had one good snow day and the hills were covered in white. The cabin was equipped with these little sleds so the kids got to go outside and play. It was amazing!
- Cody S. from Marshall, NC

The reason for our stay in this lovely cabin was my daughter’s destination wedding. Many cabins were selected by family and friends through Smoky Mountain Retreat which I had a chance to visit several of them during our week stay, and all were amazing cabins. The staff made it easy to check in late and during early checkout periods . Cabins were clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated. I will definitely use Smoky Mountain Retreat again and can recommend the 5 cabins I was able to visit. To Smoky Mountain Retreat staff, Thanks for being part of a memorable time in our lives.

Beautiful cabin on a quiet, serene mountain.
Stayed 4 days ending September 2016
Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
The cabin was beautiful and in impeccable shape upon arrival. We loved having 2 master suites on the main level and the wonderful views. It was easy to access and on a quiet stretch of road.
The only downside is that there was critter of some sort living in the walls, and it was extremely active at night. I know we're in the mountains and it's expected to encounter some wild life but this made sleeping a little difficult (I rented this cabin for my wedding weekend, so quality sleep was must).
Also -- there is not a hot tub, only a jetted whirlpool in one of the master bathrooms.

Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
The house in general was great and in a great location. However, the ice maker never worked the whole trip -- not a great thing not to have with 10 - 20 people there at one time or another. The pool cues were all broken and ping pong balls all dented, so kids couldn't play either. Also the bunk beds in the basement were very shaky and two boys slept on the floor. If these few things were fixed, we would rent again because of the view and sleeping arrangements! I hope these get fixed before next year :)

This was the third time renting Sleepy Bear and our 5th time renting in Eagle's Nest. We love Maggie Valley, and this is our favorite home to rent. There's plenty of space. The kids love the pool table and ping pong. I will say that a few updates are needed (pots and pans are old and ******, blender was broken, etc.) and the internet is slow and spotty. The home has always been clean. Thanks again for a lovely vacation in a lovely home.

Amazing stay
Stayed 3 days ending January 2017
Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
We had such a great time in this house. It had basically everything we needed and more. Loved the living area and the main table that can easily fit ten people. Perfect for our large group and celebration of the New Year.
We brought our own holiday decorations to get the Holiday spirit and the house looked amazing! There is also an artificial Christmas tree on the left from fireplace.
We spent many hours playing at the ping pong/pool table. We didn't even expect we are going to be so into it! I would bring new rackets though.
The kitchen was full of any dishes you might need.
Two master bedrooms looked great. The only complain we had was about the one behind the fireplace. It was really cold in it, may be something was wrong with AC.
Everybody loved the view on the valley! I would highly recommend this cabin!

We booked this house for a central location for siblings/spouses to meet up to celebrate our mother's 85th birthday. This house was great. The four bedrooms handled every one and having 3 floors spread us all out. The basement with the ping pong table/pool table provided hours of entertainment. The kitchen was great with the table for 8 to hold our group. The second refrigerator in the basement was a great help. The deck was the best with lots of lounge chairs and such a beautiful view. I would book this again.

Sleepy Bear Lodge is a beautiful home with the best mountain views you will find in NC!
I could spend hours sitting on the deck, watching the mountains, clouds, and birds for as far as you can see. Looking at Raleigh temps in the high 90's while we were a comfortable 75 degrees certainly made it difficult to leave when it was time to go home.
Three generations of family enjoyed visiting the Cherokee Indian Village--very worthwhile now. Three generations also enjoyed the Maggie Valley Puzzle Rooms, where 7 of us were just seconds too slow in escaping a "disappearing pirate ship". I enjoyed walking the mountainside roads each day; very pleased that I could still do the walks!
The online description is accurate and there is only one negative that we encountered. The WiFi works but the internet connection is very lousy. Even pulling up simple web pages often took minutes and streaming anything was next to impossible. The management did send a tech guy to check everything and the problem is a lousy AT&T internet connection and contract. This needs to be improved, given that we live in 2017. Of course, if you have come to escape, then there is no problem, and the Waynesville Public Library is close by and has great WiFi and internet.
The house is clean and well-maintained. We prepared most of our meals and the kitchen was well-stocked and worked well for us. When we first arrived, my wife was worried about the lack of towels. HOWEVER, a phone call to the management company brought a lot of towels quickly AND then we located plenty of towels that were already in various closets. The management company is friendly, very responsive and helpful, and easy to work with. The TV, beds, washer/dryer, dishwasher, stove, refrigerators, and outdoor grill all worked great. The ironing board was broken when we arrived and we were provided with a new replacement. immediately.
I would highly recommend Sleepy Bear to any group that wants some t

Stayed 8 days ending August 2017
Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
I came down to the Asheville area to participate in the Lake Logan 1/2 Iron Triathalon from the Chicago area. We pulled into the gated community and it was a smooth ride up 3/4th of the mountain and I was impressed! We pulled into the garage and we were excited to call Sleepy Bear Lodge "home" for the next 8 days. Five Bathrooms, a pool table, a large and comfy living area, two master bedrooms, and privacy from neighbors was great. 45 mins from Asheville, 1 hour from Pisgah National. 15 mins to town, we had it all. Excellent value. I would recommend faster / stronger Wifi as the signal was weak.

Sleepy Bear was a great place to stay. House very nice, clean (though not immaculate) and very comfortable. Great kitchen, awesome views and we all slept like babies. The management team was very nice and accommodative. Besides the following, we had no issues. Be aware it'll take you 15 minutes to drive to the main road from the house. Additionally, most activities are at least thirty minutes away, so plan on an hour to get anywhere to do anything. The technology in the house is antiquated. They need to get some TVs with HDMI connections. Also, the wifi is atrocious. You'll need to use your network. Overall, tech gets an F, but then again you are in the mountains...but still. Those two things (proximity/tech) it's an awesome place. Make sure you bring some extra bath towels, too.

Stayed here with a group of 8 guys. Plenty of space and enough beds for everyone. Everything was in great condition except the ping pong table. Showers had plenty of hot water and great water pressure.
We were able to play ping pong, pool, and had plenty of room to play board games/drinking games.
The house is central to a lot of things. It is 30 minutes from Harrah's casino, 30 minutes from Asheville, and close to a lot of hiking. Only took us 40 minutes to go white water rafting in Tennessee!

We had a wonderful family reunion and very much enjoyed our stay. The View from the deck was breathtaking. The house was very clean but the deck porches and driveway should have been swept off before arrival or at least provide us with a leaf blower so we could do minor maintenance. We enjoyed having dinner at various restaurants in Waynesville. The house was well maintained however some of the furniture in the great room needs to be replaced. We had a lot of fun playing pool and ping-pong in the lower level.

Cozy & Quaint
Stayed 4 days ending December 2017
Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
When we arrived at the cabin it had snowed a few days before. For the most part the roads in the development had beed cleared and were driveable. It would have been nice for the property management to have cleared off the steps for us as they were icy and the shovels of course were inside the garage.
The house was nice and clean when we arrived. The rooms were large and roomy giving everyone their own space. The bedroom over the garage was very cold, not sure if this is due to its location over the garage or if there is something going on there. Some of the living room furniture could use updating but again it was fine and accomodating to our needs.
We read other reviews about the wifi there and we did have some trouble connecting several times but it was not a huge issue for us.

Stayed 9 days ending September 2017
Overall satisfaction: Services from rental manager: Cleanliness: Location: Property condition:
We had a wonderful time at smoky bear lodge, which was very comfortable for our group of 8 adults. The home was in a great location but does need some maintenance which can easily be fixed. Many of the outside lights had burned out bulbs and were not working, the water/ice in main refrigerator was broken and not fixed during our 9 day stay, the knobs on gas stove were either missing or broken, and the carpet in lower level was very dirty and needs to be replaced with different flooring. Overall this home is a beautiful home in a great location, but does not seem to be maintained as it should be. The lower level game room was subject to prior abuse and there was evidence of rodents in garage and scratching in walls of Moose bedroom in early morning hours. If more attention was paid to maintenance and the rodent issue, this home would get an outstanding rating.

We had a fantastic time at Sleepy Bear Lodge- a beautiful home with a magnificent view! The home was open and perfect for our family with two little ones!

Property was clean, suited all our needs, but needs a few maintenance issues resolved. The view is probably the best we have had it numerous years of renting in WNC. All in all, the grandkids were happy, which is all that matters.
